Rheem ProTerra hybrid water heater: specs and savings by state
From Rheem's ProTerra spec sheet and manual, read November 2026. Costs use EIA state electricity prices.
Short answer
The 50 gallon ProTerra has a first-hour rating of 67 gallons and a UEF of 3.88, about four times as efficient as a standard electric tank. It needs a 30 A, 240 V circuit, a condensate drain, and a room over 700 cu ft (or louvers if it's smaller) that stays between 37 and 145°F.
What it saves in your state
A year's hot water at the federal test's medium use (55 gallons a day, 58°F in, 120°F tank), at each state's average electricity price. For your own water temperature, use and payback, use the water heater cost calculator.
